In the toy business, a clever concept is only the beginning. Earning space at a major retailer requires the right product at the right price, backed by rigorous safety standards, smart packaging, reliable manufacturing and a supply chain capable of delivering at scale. Since Ami Rosenfeld founded Red Toolbox in 2007, the company has built each of those capabilities, transforming an Israeli idea into an international toy business. Behind that growth is a rare combination of inventive product thinking, retail expertise and the agility to keep pace with an industry that changes by the season.

An Israeli Idea. Global Appeal
Red Toolbox was founded on the belief that hands-on play can bring parents and children together. Its earliest products were child-sized tools and building kits that encouraged children to make things, solve problems and gain practical skills. Over time, the range grew to include take-apart vehicles, gardening toys, play kitchens, grills, garages and other role-play products. Different categories, but one consistent idea: take something children recognize from the adult world and turn it into a safe, engaging and rewarding play experience.

That philosophy now shapes licensed product lines for KitchenAid, STANLEY Jr., Formula 1, Goodyear, Miracle-Gro, Scotts, Harley-Davidson, Char-Broil and Tasty. The work begins by identifying what makes each brand distinctive, from its design language and values to the expectations of its audience. Red Toolbox then reimagines those qualities through a child's eyes, creating products with play appeal, parental value and the commercial versatility to succeed across markets.

"One of our biggest early lessons was that a product that works in Israel will not necessarily work abroad," says Rosenfeld, the company's founder and CEO. "Every market has its own expectations. Buyers in the United States and Europe look at price, packaging, product features and the commercial proposition differently. We learned to listen closely, adapt quickly and, at times, walk away from ideas we loved. That took persistence and patience, but it made us a sharper company. We have kept the creativity and speed of an Israeli business while learning to think and operate globally."

What It Takes to Win at Global Retail
Selling to Walmart, Target and Costco takes far more than a good buyer relationship. Each retailer has its own customer, economics and operational demands. A product must meet precise targets for price, dimensions, quality, inventory planning and delivery. Red Toolbox develops the right proposition for each account, whether that means an exclusive product, a retailer-specific color, a value-driven warehouse-club pack or a line designed to work seamlessly across stores and e-commerce.

Delivering on those promises requires close coordination across product development, design, engineering, licensing, sales, marketing, quality assurance and supply chain. Teams work simultaneously with factories, testing laboratories, brand owners and retail buyers around the world. The company's licensing portfolio is central to that model. Familiar names give products immediate credibility, but the partnerships also signal something deeper: leading global companies trust Red Toolbox to interpret their brands thoughtfully and represent them consistently in international markets.

From Concept to Shelf, Faster
Technology helps shorten the distance between a promising idea and a production-ready toy. Red Toolbox brings design, engineering and manufacturing into a connected development process. 3D modeling and visualization allow teams to assess structure, mechanisms and the user experience before committing to tooling. Rapid prototyping makes it possible to test scale, ergonomics and functionality while changes are still quick and economical. Data-driven systems and AI also support research, concept development, visualization and collaboration across teams.
Innovation is not limited to how a product looks. It may be found in a new play feature, a smarter safety solution, a more meaningful connection between imaginative and hands-on play, or packaging that uses less space and material. Every creative decision is weighed against manufacturing efficiency, shipping realities and regulatory requirements. A successful toy has to delight a child, satisfy a parent, pass the laboratory and perform at retail.

The Israeli Advantage: Agility
Toy trends move quickly, and commercial opportunities do not stay open for long. Red Toolbox's entrepreneurial structure allows it to spot an opportunity, make decisions and act without losing the discipline required by major global partners. Feedback from a buyer, a request from a brand owner or a shift in consumer behavior can quickly lead to a revised feature, package or launch strategy.

"Innovation does not begin at the end, when someone adds a feature to an existing product," Rosenfeld says. "It begins with how we challenge the idea itself. We combine Israeli creativity and speed with the standards expected by the world's largest companies. That means listening to children and parents, but also to brand owners and retail buyers. The strongest products emerge when all of those perspectives come together."

The Next Stage of Growth
Red Toolbox is continuing to broaden its roster of international partners, move into new categories and expand across North America, Europe and other markets. Its new KitchenAid collaboration captures that strategy particularly well: an iconic kitchen brand, reinterpreted as a range of products designed around the way children learn, imagine and discover through play.

Nearly two decades after it was founded, Red Toolbox still has the entrepreneurial energy of a young company, now supported by global capabilities, a diverse brand portfolio and access to some of the industry's most coveted retail channels. Rosenfeld credits the people behind the business. "We can talk about innovation, global brands and reaching the world's largest retailers, but our secret ingredient is our team," he says. "From product designers and developers to manufacturing, quality assurance and logistics, and from sales to marketing, our people bring extraordinary professionalism, creativity and commitment. They put their heart and soul into every product, and you can feel that dedication all the way from the first sketch to the retail shelf."
