August 2023 saw an unexpected upturn in the luxury apartment market after months of stagnation. In Tel Aviv alone, the number of transactions in the year's first quarter was 34 percent higher than in the same time the year before, according to Israel's Finance Ministry. Vered Aminov, creator and owner of the VAP Luxury Real Estate Agency, has no need of financial statistics to know that the market is recovering. She serves clients around the world who are looking to invest or settle in Israel.

They are motivated, she says, not only by a weaker shekel and the surge in global anti-Semitism, but also by a deep connection with the Jewish state. In doing so, they see her as their anchor in Israel, in both good times and bad.

Jews throughout the Diaspora dream of homes in Israel, she has learned. They favor beachfront towns such as Tel Aviv, Herzliya Pituach, Caesarea and Netanya, as well as, of course, Israel's capital, Jerusalem. With this understanding, Aminov is more like an ambassador for her clients, she knows how to gently unravel their needs and desires in balance with their budgets, fashioning all this into successful real estate transactions through the agency she has established.

Reaching Beyond Israel's Borders

Aminov is unique in that, in every transaction she has conducted in the decade since establishing her agency, she has stood back and allowed the properties to speak for themselves. She treats every property that she takes as a work of art, displayed in a high-end gallery. Her sales campaigns at home and abroad are accurate and informative, and her photographs of the properties are meticulous, with drone images detailing the interplay between interior and exterior to their full glory.

Fluent in six languages, with a detailed and informative website in four of them, Aminov is well qualified to work in the international arena. Her language skills are characteristic of a business concept, which embraces the personal touch, professionalism and attention to detail in the unique and defined market of luxury apartments.

Aminov's extensive experience in her field has made her acutely aware that she is more than a real estate consultant for her clients. Her benchmark is, therefore, quality even at the cost of longer hours and more work. Personally accompanying every client, her relationship with them begins with an introductory conversation and turns into a friendship. She finds realty gems for her clients in Tel Aviv and in every luxury area in Israel they wish to settle, shows them the property and has them fully experience it, while internalizing their desires, requirements, dreams and, of course, budget, to make the perfect match.

"In luxury apartment transactions, money tends to be secondary," she says. "My clients don't wrangle over price, but they won't compromise in any other area. They're paying for the best and expect to get exactly that. This makes the details that impact on the living experience crucial — things such as the distance from the front door to the seashore. I'm guided by the motto that "quality is in the tiniest details," and see my job as fitting together the puzzle pieces to find the home best suited to each client, down to its fittings."

Selling a Luxury Home is Like an Ongoing Love Affair

The properties which Aminov takes on are high standard, special and often breath-taking. In the same way that she never rushes her clients, working patiently and transparently with them until they find their perfect home, nor she does rush to accept the properties that she chooses to market.

Whether a hotel, boutique building or penthouse in a luxury neighborhood, she thoroughly checks that it meets required standards. Her process is meticulous and focused, ensuring that no transaction is ever substandard. She thus safeguards a professional reputation that brings her clients from Jewish communities all over the world, where her name is known and trusted.

"For my clients to trust me, I must trust myself," she says.

"I serve them directly, respecting both them and their time — which makes locating and screening serious buyers and vendors extremely important. It makes no sense to work with those who aren't serious. Better by far to be patient, thorough and uncompromising."

Selling property to the extremely wealthy requires a different approach, according to Aminov. "The client is often outside Israel and trusts me to move forward, knowing that I source very special properties and efficiently handle the entire process. Our digital age allows me to show them properties I locate, my videos illustrating the entire living experience, without false representation."

Useful though they are, digital tools are no substitute for direct personal contact. "Selling a luxury home is an ongoing adventure," says Aminov. "The luxury apartment market is very limited and has very clear standards, with the client demanding to be fully informed about every change and every detail. In this market, discretion and process are very important. This is equally true for investment apartments, which aren't always luxury properties. Here, too, I advise and accompany clients, always maintaining discretion so as not to jeopardize the transaction or expose the client."

At Heart Everyone is Searching for a Home

Even after talking at length with Vered Aminov, it is hard to categorize her. She is a businesswoman, real estate consultant and ambassador combined, who represents the beauty of Israel to overseas clients — a different and unique professional in Israeli real estate, from her concept of the profession to the range of skills she brings to it.

There are, however, certain things about Aminov that are indisputable. She has profound understanding of the importance of professionalism, and she continually learns, updates, studies the market and identifies new trends — particularly against the backdrop of recent insecurity, from pandemic to war to the global upsurge in anti-Semitism.

"In light of these trends, both in Israel and worldwide, the concept of home in all its complexity has strengthened in recent years — and especially in recent months in Israel," says Aminov, "I see my work as an opportunity to help people put down roots and realize their dream of a home. Even in the luxury market, particularly if they're Jewish, people are looking for a place to put down their roots."
