In 2017, recognizing the potential AI can have for the Israeli Defense Forces, Ido Rozenberg, Raz Roditti, and Michael Zolotov co-founded Axon Vision. Their mission was clear: to embed advanced AI capabilities into frontline defense systems and help shape the battlefield of the future.
"What we do is automate and enable autonomous combat," explains Ido Rozenberg, Axon Vision's Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer. "Our goal is to let soldiers focus on making critical decisions, while the AI processes sensor data, highlights key insights, and even executes precise actions when required. It automates the battlefield perception process, delivering real-time situational awareness to commanders and operators – enabling fast, informed decision-making. Once a decision is made, the system can execute it automatically, simplifying the operator's work."
Ori Naor, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Axon Vision, adds: "Our AI solutions can be integrated across any military platform – from remote weapon stations and armored or robotic vehicles to drones, UAVs, and even manned aircraft. We leverage diverse sensors – visual, thermal, radar, and more – and our AI processes the data to understand the battlefield environment. It identifies targets, interprets movement and behavior, and presents this intelligence to the operator – enabling faster and smarter decisions. If needed, the system can autonomously carry out the operator's selected response."

Identifying threats before they turn into dangers
"In combat, a soldier inside a vehicle is surrounded by a flood of sensor inputs and must distinguish the enemy within that chaos," explains Rozenberg. "Our systems do that better – detecting targets that might otherwise go undetected, analyzing their context and prioritizing which threats demand the operator's attention. It can then direct surveillance tools or prepare a weapon for engagement – depending on the operator's judgment."
Naor adds: "We apply the same AI principles in aerial domains – upgrading drones, ISR aircraft, and airborne weapon systems. Faster detection, sharper interpretation, smarter response."

To what extent have your systems been deployed to the battlefield?
"Our solutions have been hardened through years of operational use," Rozenberg says. "We've been applying AI to combat systems well before it became mainstream. One of our key advantages is creating synergy between subsystems. Previously, surveillance and weapon systems relied entirely on the operator to identify, track, and engage targets - often requiring coordination between multiple personnel. This process was slow and prone to human error. Now, with our automation based on advanced processing - detection and response are unified – resulting in timely threat engagement. Our clients describe it as a revolution."

All of Axon Vision's systems are already operational on land and in the air, according to Naor. "And this is just the beginning," says Naor. "Our AI enables different platforms - even across domains - to recognize that they are seeing the same target, from various angles and sensors. This creates a shared target perception in real time. In some cases, a hidden target on one platform is visible on another - and the system allows instant correlation of that data across friendly forces. This computer vision capability is already operational at the single-platform level and is now being scaled to multi-platform operations."

Can such capabilities be added to old platforms and modernize them?
"Absolutely," says Rozenberg. "We've retrofitted AI into older armored vehicles and legacy systems by installing the necessary sensors and advanced compute units. We've taken platforms introduced over a decade ago and embedded AI-based capabilities into them. These systems and capabilities have already been proven in the field.

A growing demand for Combat Ready AI Capabilities
While Axon Vision remains a strong force in the Israeli defense ecosystem, the company has significantly expanded its international footprint recently.

"We're seeing increasing demand from Europe, Asia, and the United States," Naor notes.He continues: "Our global business doubled in the past year, and we expect continued growth at this pace during this year. The reason is clear: our technology addresses mission-critical operational challenges. We enable a unified combat picture of threats and targets – regardless of where or how they're being observed. It's a true game-changer that dramatically shortens the kill chain and enhances tactical precision - the very core of modern battlefield operations."
