Pixellot is the largest Israeli sports technology company, providing AI-based automated video and data solutions for the sports industry. The company was founded in 2013 by Gal Oz and Dr. Miky Tamir and is headquartered in Petach Tikva, Israel. It has grown significantly since its inception and currently has over 270 employees. Pixellot's products are used by sports organizations, broadcasters, federations, and data companies around the world.

Given the cost of traditional sports production, 99% of sports events worldwide are not broadcast and professional broadcasting is reserved for the world’s premier leagues in the most popular sports. Pixellot broke through that reality by offering AI-automated sports production solutions that can be used by any club anywhere in the world, thereby levelling the playing field for all athletes, men and women, and democratizing the sports world.

The Israel Innovation Authority's support has enabled Pixellot to develop its innovative technology and secure valuable funding in the critical phases of its growth. Pixellot received a grant from the Authority early on, which helped accelerate the company’s development. Given Pixellot’s success, the Israel Innovation Authority has received significant revenues along the years from its financial support.

Comprehensive suite of products

Pixellot's unique technology uses artificial intelligence and computer vision algorithms to automatically capture, produce, and distribute sports video content in real time. This allows for more efficient and cost-effective production of sports events, while also creating new monetization opportunities for sports organizations.

Pixellot's technology is different from other competitors in the market in that it offers a comprehensive suite of products that includes not just AI-based automated streaming, but also automated game breakdown, a customized viewing platform, advanced graphics and an array of monetization options.

The company’s solutions have been adopted by a wide range of sports organizations, such as ESPN, MLB, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid, to name a few. Recently, it entered the Chinese market by signing an agreement with the local tech giant Baidu to connect 6,000 venues around the country.

Strong sports tech ecosystem

Israel's combination of a highly skilled workforce, entrepreneurial culture, and structured start-up support system make it a significant player in the global sports tech sector – with more than 250 sport tech companies in Israel's sports tech ecosystem. Many companies enjoy direct connections with the biggest sports organizations worldwide, and attract delegations to Israel from all corners of the globe.

From the field of analytics, where Israeli start-ups have developed sophisticated algorithms and machine learning tools that help coaches and athletes improve performance, to the development of wearable tech and VR/AR, Israel’s sport tech sector is bustling with creativity, which in turn positively impacts innovation worldwide. Reputable, deep technologies that are proven on the ground, and a systematically well-funded start-up scene all empower the sector’s growth.

As Israel celebrates 75 years of independence, my hope is that it will continue to be a nation that innovates and creates solutions across a multitude of fields for the benefit of the entire world and to positively impact different fields such as food tech, ed-tech and green tech. In addition, I hope Israel will continue to increase its involvement in the regional economies, as seen through the recent Abraham Accords. Innovation and science serve as great accelerators for drawing nations closer, and sports in particular can be an amazing bridge between people.

I hope Pixellot’s solutions, which democratize sports and are already producing live sports from several Arab countries, will continue to draw stronger and closer relations between Israel and its neighbors. And one more wish: I hope that we as a nation will be able to raise the level of our sports achievements alongside our success in sports tech.
