Bazelet HaGolan Winery: Where Past, Present and Future Meets
A breathtaking view, perfect weather and a sublime glass of wine. What else can one ask for?

For want of a good glass of wine, a winery was built...
For winegrower and winery owner Yoav Levi winemaking was a hobby, he enjoyed fiddling around with grapes and winemaking methods, trying to create the perfect libation to accompany his meals. Together with his partner, Yael Pudik, they started researching grapes and horticulture methods, experimenting with a variety of harvesting procedures.
The mineral rich basalt soil is what gives the Bazelet HaGolan winery its name. The fertile soil and unique climate, create ideal conditions for growing quality grapes. Noble grapes, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay were planted, cultivated, pruned and harvested and in 1998, Levi felt confident in his results and opened the first boutique winery nestled in the mountainous terrain of the Golan Heights.
Where wine meets history
An archeological excavation uncovered an ancient coin with the portrait of Dionysus, the Greek god of grape-harvest, winemaking, festivities and theatre. Dionysus’s love of pleasure and leisure exemplifies the winery’s beliefs, and the coin was embedded as the wine label. The old and new come together, with an Israeli flag printed on the bottle caps.
Modern day state of Israel, the love of the country and of the Israeli Defense Forces are as much a part of the winery’s essence as the past, and soldiers are often invited for much needed R&R at the winery.
Past, present and future is materialized in the methods used to create the wine. Handpicked grapes, historical fermentation techniques, pressing practice and old oak barrels for the unfiltered wine, are used side by side with innovative, cutting edge, modern technology, culminating in a state of the art wines.
The unique wines of Bazelet winery
The winery’s signature wines include a deep, elegant Merlot, aged in oak barrels for 20 months, a full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and a fruity, summery Chardonnay. Unique blends are created, such as the Hushania (“sensual”) wine, a luxurious combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz grapes, or the Magma wine, a dark blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, aged in French barrels for an powerful redcurrant flavor. The wines have several series, one of the most well-known is the 188 vineyard series, named after the 188th division of the armored corps, who fought during the Yom Kippur war of 1973, protecting the Golan Heights from Syrian invasion. The grapes used for this wine are grown in the Tel Fares vineyard, named after one of the battles of the war.
