The dramatic transformation of Western consumer culture is hard to ignore. The COVID-19 pandemic marked a turning point, triggering a surge in online shopping that has led to sweeping changes across the entire economy.

With entire industries reshaped, logistics and delivery systems are under immense pressure to keep up. While traditional government-run services like the Israel Postal Company and some private initiatives struggled to adapt to the e-commerce boom, a few forward-thinking entrepreneurs spotted an opportunity — and seized it.
Enter a player called Cargo, a bold distribution and courier company cofounded by tech entrepreneurs Ram Binyamin and Lior Gazit.

They set out to rebuild Israel's supply chain to meet the demands of the digital age and accelerate the world of online commerce.

"Our main shopping hub was once the mall, where we went with moms, partners and families," says Gazit. "We're now in a different era, where our shopping lives have moved online. But the infrastructure that supports it hasn't evolved apace."

Gazit and Binyamin noted a serious gap in customer service and accountability. "In Israel, there's a tendency to duck full responsibility," explains Gazit. "Many companies fail to understand that the moment they invoice a customer they're wholly accountable for the entire delivery process."

Changing the Game
"Even a decade ago, we saw huge supply chain flaws," he continues. "Customers couldn't track their packages, and courier companies wouldn't speak to them directly. This created the absurd situation where customers tracked passages via the website from which they ordered it. We created Cargo to rebuild delivery around service and responsibility from the ground up."

Exceptional Delivery Standards
Launched in 2018, Cargo has grown rapidly into one of Israel's leading courier companies. Today, it employs over 600 people nationwide — drivers, logistics coordinators, HQ staff and executives. The company partners with some 700 businesses across the country, handling sorting, packaging and shipping their packages, ensuring that they reach customers within 24 hours of purchase. The result: Cargo has set an industry benchmark of a 95 percent successful delivery rate.

"We constantly refine our operations, perform daily quality checks and maintain full control over the entire supply chain," says Gazit. "Think of it like a sports team on which we play both defense and offense. On defense, we offer outstanding transparent and constantly available service, responding through every channel down to personal WhatsApp messages. On offense, we track every shipment, audit our systems daily and proactively solve problems before customers even notice. That is, we play on both sides of the field."

Cargo offers the whole supply chain system under a single roof. "We develop everything in-house," he notes. "So, if something goes wrong, we can correct it immediately — an agility which is key. We don't simply respond to problems, we manage them. Cargo takes full ownership of what it delivers, redefining the relationship between distribution company, business and customer. That's why we say we're father and mother of the package!"

All for One, One for All
Like all of Israel, Cargo had to adapt quickly in the aftermath of the October 7 2023 invasion. "We're all part of the same community and all experience its challenges together," says Gazit. "Our parents and grandparents gave everything for this nation. Now it's our turn. This isn't just about October 7 — it's the story of our country, and our attempt to make it better. We believe wholeheartedly in: How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity. That means striving to be better, more compassionate people, building a vibrant community and creating an empowering reality for everyone."

Remaining Operational in Crisis
Even though the country temporarily froze in the wake of the massacre, Cargo quickly resumed operations. "We felt a responsibility to keep going, not just for the sake of business, but for the people relying on us," Gazit explains. "We couldn't ignore what was happening, and we responded by serving our customers. We saw Cargo as integral to the community. With the economic and security situations extremely tough, we asked: How can we step up?"
Cargo employees had a strong sense of mission and rallied together. They organized nonstop deliveries as part of community relief efforts, working under difficult conditions, emergency alerts and missile threats. Dozens of employees were called to emergency military reserve duty, leaving work for extended periods. Cargo stood by them, compensating them, promoting many on their return and placing others on leadership development tracks in recognition of their service.
The company helped transport emergency supplies for the IDF, and it partnered with nonprofits and community organizations. Among its social initiatives were support of restaurants impacted by the war by purchasing bulk meals to donate to women's shelters and orphanages; significant donations during Passover through the nonprofit humanitarian Pitchon Lev organization; and support of local sports and youth activities, among this sponsoring the Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club.

"We knew this was our chance to contribute and we're proud to have done so," says Gazit.

Championing Local Industry Cargo is also on a mission to support homegrown businesses. "Today, over half of Israel's package deliveries are international," notes Gazit. "We're bucking trend. Our e-commerce logistics are blue-and-white. We're committed to Israeli-made products and to helping local businesses enhance their logistics and customer service in a way that supports their excellence and strengthens our local economy. We grew up in this country, have proudly served it, and are nowexcited to do business here, embracing entire communities and helping Israeli industry grow."

What's Next for Cargo?
"In five years, we anticipate that we'll still be doing what we do best: delivering excellence," says Gazit. "Our goal is to provide the highest standard of service, and to support our partners at every step. That's our promise—and our responsibility."
