In a world defined by escalating threats and evolving security challenges, reliable and secure tactical communication is critical more than ever. Whether for military forces navigating complex battlefield challenges, for emergency services responding to crises or for government security agencies, real-time coordination, command and data-sharing often determine mission success, and may even mean the difference between life and death. Success today requires more than resilience. It demands foresight, rapid adaptability and arriving first with the right solutions.
The MER Group, an Israeli-international enterprise, brings over 40 years of experience in planning, implementing and delivering end-to-end defense, homeland security (HLS) and communications infrastructure solutions. Its Consult–Develop–Engineer–Integrate–Implement model ensures comprehensive service under one roof.

TechMer is the Mer Group's technological powerhouse. It designs interoperable communication systems, military grade command-and-control shelters and AI-based protection systems for armored vehicles (360° situational awareness). All have been tested and proven in combat since October 7. These systems are integrated into command shelters, armed vehicles and critical mission systems, such as air defense system.
Over the years, TechMer has provided communication and video systems for tanks, APCs, naval vessels and aerial command networks within the IDF. Its advanced communications infrastructure is also used by armed forces worldwide.

"Staying ahead in this market requires continuous technological innovation, recognizing new opportunities and building long-term strategic partnerships," says TechMer CEO Itzhak Schwartz.
The company, he says, has a unique competitive edge: its end-to-end capabilities. "Everything, from software development to electronic board design and mechanical production, is done in-house. This means we can deliver tailored, fully integrated solutions that meet the highest military standards — something especially evident since October 7, when TechMer swiftly delivered next-generation AI-based defense systems and communication capabilities to frontline units within mission-critical timeframes."

Built for the battlefield: new manufacturing in Ashkelon
In late 2024, TechMer opened a new facility in Ashkelon's southern industrial zone to produce advanced military command shelters. It invested heavily in upgrading the site and establishing modern production lines, establishing a comprehensive development chain from design and engineering to integrated system deployment.
This new plant complements TechMer's existing production site in Sderot, and focuses on projects for Israel's Ministry of Defense and local military industry. All its systems are designed for extreme field conditions and built to international military standards. Today, TechMer can independently produce and deliver communication systems for military ground and naval platforms, tactical networks for emergency response teams and mobile command centers — all domestically sourced and made. The company also offers local, rapid military-grade production services for Israel's defense industries, says Schwartz, and is open to new business challenges and partnerships.
"At a time when global supply chains face disruption, our localized, autonomous production model shortens delivery times and redefines industry expectations," he says.

Empowering southern Israel: a strategic and social mission
TechMer's expansion into Israel's south reflects the MER Group's commitment to strengthening the Gaza border communities through economic development and high-tech job creation.
"Producing vital defense systems for the IDF and security services in this area is a true Israeli response," says Schwartz. "This initiative reinforces Israel's security, boosts local industry and strengthens national resilience."

Local manufacturing, global standards
TechMer has a number of flagship products. One is the mACS (modular All-inclusive Communication System), which simplifies operation in command-and-control environments where tactical communication can be a decisive factor. The system is now deployed in critical IDF platforms and has earned recognition from global defense stakeholders.
Another highlight: TechMer technology was selected for first-responder communications in all buildings constructed at Ground Zero in Manhattan, following 9/11. Its design is based on lessons learned from the Twin Towers tragedy, and the system is now the official federal communications standard for New York City high-rises.
The company's Smart-M platform, an IoT-based real-time data management system developed in-house which integrates various real-time data types into a unified, connected management interface, is another of its leading products. It has been operational for over 20 years and is regularly updated with the latest tech advances.

Artificial Intelligence on the frontlines
AI is playing an increasingly key role in the modern battlespace. While many of TechMer's capabilities remain classified, Schwartz confirms that the company has successfully deployed several AI-based defense systems, including solutions for protecting armored vehicles from diverse threats. These technologies draw on battlefield experience from both the Gaza and Ukraine conflicts.

"We're skilled at adapting civilian innovations for military use," says Schwartz. "Within months of receiving the request, we equipped over 1,000 vehicles with AI-based systems. More advanced capabilities are already in late-stage development."

The MER Group's business approach, Schwartz explains, is centered on long-term partnership. The company sees itself not simply as a supplier but as a strategic ally, working closely with defense clients to develop customized, future-ready solutions. It collaborates closely with them, sharing its tools and expertise to address the complex IT and communications challenges of the 21st century and to develop customized solutions tailored to specific needs.
