Smart Building Technologies: The Israeli Company Driving a Global Revolution

In recent years, Telefire has evolved from a fire detection solution company into a global leader in smart building technologies. Agustin Dalurzo, Head of Business Development, discusses the transformation and how the company's solutions - including a proprietary product under the SNIPER brand - are boosting the operational efficiency of buildings and strategic sites in Israel and worldwide

Since its acquisition by the Tene Investment Fund in 2017, Telefire - founded in 1979 as a private company specializing in fire detection systems - has undergone a major transformation and growth trajectory. "We've evolved into a global corporate structure with advanced operational processes, while preserving a close-knit, family-like organizational culture," says Agustin Dalurzo, the company's Head of Business Development. "This unique combination is our secret sauce, allowing us to maintain both innovation and deep employee engagement."

Parallel to this structural transformation, Telefire significantly expanded its workforce and deepened the professional expertise of its teams, enabling it to take on highly complex projects in the Israeli market. The company's portfolio of low-voltage smart building solutions has grown dramatically, facilitating a move into international markets. In recent years, Telefire has established a strong presence across Europe, Latin America and Asia. "This strategic expansion, combined with a sharp focus on execution, investment in talent, and rapid responsiveness to shifting market dynamics, has fueled consistent double-digit growth," Dalurzo emphasizes.

Part of your growth involved mergers and acquisitions. In 2022, you acquired LControl, which today appears to have become the de facto standard in Israel's PSIM market - a field dedicated to the integration and centralization of data from a wide range of security systems. What factors have made this a success story?
"SNIPER has indeed become the de facto standard for PSIM (Physical Security Information Management) in Israel," agrees Dalurzo. "Its success stems from three key strengths: an open, fully vendor-agnostic architecture that allows seamless integration with a broad range of systems and manufacturers; smooth deployment; and an intuitive, user-friendly interface. Beyond the technology, it's the premium customer service - characterized by high availability, professional support, and rapid response times - that truly sets it apart. The system's flexibility also allows it to scale effortlessly across projects of any size."

More Than Integration: Delivering Measurable Operational and Financial Value
SNIPER's wide adoption speaks for itself: it is now installed in hundreds of strategic sites across Israel, including universities, logistics centers, major retail chains, a central seaport, solar farms, and national infrastructure projects such as Israel Railways.

What are the key benefits SNIPER delivers to these organizations?
"While each organization has unique needs, we've seen SNIPER consistently deliver measurable business value - increased efficiency, lower costs, and enhanced operational performance in complex environments," says Dalurzo. "Let me give you two real-world case studies. The first one belongs to a major university campus with over 100 buildings that saw a 30% reduction in energy consumption, amounting to annual savings of around $500,000. This was achieved through intelligent integration between scheduling systems and HVAC/lighting controls, centralized management of fire and security systems, and automated alerts and emergency protocols.

"The second one relates to a large national logistics center that brought together all fire, security, and BMS (Building Management Systems) operations under a single SNIPER-powered command center. This resulted in a 74% reduction in required staff, translating to $600,000 in annual labor cost savings, with ROI achieved within just six months. Additional gains included faster response times, better coordination of security operations, and lower site-wide energy usage.

"These examples clearly demonstrate that SNIPER is much more than a traditional integration tool. It creates tangible financial and operational impact, helping clients reduce costs, improve safety, and operate complex infrastructures more efficiently and sustainably."

Smart Cities, AI Integration, and Continuous Innovation
Telefire's international growth is no accident. "It's the outcome of a deliberate go-to-market strategy," says Dalurzo. The company first built a dedicated international sales team to identify opportunities in new markets, followed by a network of distribution agreements with local partners in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. It also established subsidiaries, offices, and regional hubs in high-potential countries such as India, Mexico, the Nordic region (e.g., Sweden), and Chile.

A critical element of success has been local technical support, provided in the customer's native language and fully aligned with local standards and regulations. "In less than two years, Telefire achieved market penetration and active sales in 17 countries worldwide, a clear sign of the company's capabilities and the global demand for its solutions," declares Dalurzo.

What's next for Telefire?
"We're focusing on three strategic growth areas," Dalurzo explains. "The first one is Smart Cities. We're constantly expanding our portfolio in this area and have already completed the first phase of a major project in a large European city. We're now moving into the next phase, where SNIPER will provide unified management of urban monitoring and control systems, enhancing operational efficiency and public safety.

"The second one is AI Integration. We're embedding artificial intelligence into our solutions to increase operational efficiency, improve real-time decision-making through data-driven insights, and automate inter-system processes.

"The third area is ongoing Fire Detection Innovation. Telefire remains a leader in fire detection technologies, a field where we've held a dominant position for decades. We continue to invest in developing cutting-edge products that meet evolving market needs and comply with increasingly stringent global regulations.

"Our mission is to continue delivering innovative, high-quality, and flexible solutions to customers in Israel and around the world, always backed by exceptional service and customized to meet the specific needs and regulatory landscapes of each market."
