A DIGITAL PRESENCE FOR EVERY BUSINESS: The Maxshop Platform Brings Self-Service Technologies Under a Single Roof
maxshop answers the digital needs of every business, conveniently and comprehensively — from a cash register for remote operation to collecting customer data for promotion, from interactive ordering to building virtual stores
Businesses today, large and small, understand the importance a digital presence. They know that without it, their digital competitors will chip away at their market share and likely drive them into oblivion. Using the cloud for business needs, from mobile apps to online stores, has morphed from a luxury to a vital necessity.
More than this, a digital presence must be effective, especially financially. This was the vision of entrepreneur Oded Mesika in creating maxshop two years ago. A UI/UX designer, he has extensive experience in complex e-commerce projects and building software development methodologies, particularly mobile and end-customer experience. Today maxshop’s CTO, he is among 14 professionals there, with more to be recruited during the coming year. “E-commerce, which is essentially self-service consumption, is gaining momentum both in Israel and worldwide,” he explains.
“This trend demands a platform that creates better user and purchasing experiences for both business owner and end-customers.” Launched during the COVID pandemic, for maxshop the crisis was a growth opportunity. “Many businesses today find themselves dependent on website builders,” says Mesika. “But this not only consumes significant setup time and development costs, but also provides only partial solutions rather than a broad envelope.
maxShop’s fast, immediate and smart solutions go far beyond building a website or app. They’re part of a process that includes developing knowledge-rich technological solutions, which are regularly updated in the cloud, and address the needs and challenges of the business — from increasing sales to reducing costs. ”Among the range of its one-stop shop product-lines, maxshop emphasizes the mobile. The first and most advanced of these is its interface with POS cash register systems, which streamlines payment and shortens customer waiting-time.
It automatically generates reports according to different filters, enabling inventory management and smart decision-making in real time. And it provides customer data and purchase history for targeted, focused and customized marketing. Working in the cloud, it can connect to any of the company’s e-commerce platforms, allowing business operations to be controlled and monitored from a single cloud management interface. For companies that work with an external POS company, maxshop integrates their own product line — among examples are Aviv, Bikom, Caspit, Nike and Comex. A second maxshop product-line is an unmanned kiosk system, where orders can be placed around the clock — which is well suited to fast food, pharma and clothing chains.
“This increases business visibility, and thus helps attract new customers,” explains Mesika. “For the customer, it’s a quick, convenient and easy ordering experience, which offers the option of paying in cash, bills and coins, or by credit card, digital wallet, 10bis, Cibus, Goody or customer clubs.
”Smaller product-lines include tabletop tablets, in place of cardboard or paper menus, for ordering independently and reducing the waitstaff workload; QR codes and NFC tags that can be scanned when orders are placed via smartphone; the KDS kitchen management system with digital builders that reduce errors and costs; and digital cloud invoices that allow customers to ‘color’ their order. A third major maxshop product-line is currently under construction: it is an e-commerce site or virtual store, with full management interface independent of third parties, that can later control and add to the design without graphic knowledge.
What is the main market for maxshop’s online sales platform?
“Our main market is any business that wants an online store,” says Mesika. “Our current focus is the fresh food market — that is, small supermarkets, greengrocers, farmers who market directly to consumers, butchers, restaurants and fast-food chains. Our platform can load hundreds of thousands of products at high speed.”
What is unique about maxshop’s product lines?
“As I see it and from the very consistent feedback received from customers, maxshop is leading the self-service revolution because its sales platform is the most convenient, for both seller and buyer,” says Mesika. “We provide a 360-degree service package. Everything that a business needs in order to sell more and spend less is at maxshop. We’re a one-stop shop in the fullest sense. Among our services, customers can build a promotion system using tools in the system, such as Facebook and Instagram pixels, Google Analytics, Google Shopping, Instagram Catalog, Facebook Catalog and more. All of these are user-friendly, and none require prior technological knowledge, inventory management skills, advertising agencies or website promoters because they work automatically.”
What types of business does maxshop target?
“Our platform is suitable for any retail business, from food and clothing through toys and cosmetics,” says Mesika. “We already have hundreds of signed-up customers — among them Optica Cohen, Katsefet, Pizza Fargo, Hashnizelia and Almost Free Pizza.”
maxshop builds different modules, according to customer requirements, he says, with the aim of making them accessible to micro, small, medium-sized and large businesses. “Studies we conducted have shown us that the majority of our market competitors provide only partial solutions. The few who offer full solutions use external suppliers, which inevitably harms the working of the different interfaces. This is why we emphasize all technologies under a single roof.”
What is the size of your target market?
“The global food market alone is expected to grow by 6.7 percent each year between 2022 and 2027,” answers Mesika. “This is reflected in Israel, where the annual growth forecast is 6.4 percent. Equally important, is the world market for restaurant management software, which is expected to increase by a very promising annual 15.8 percent between 2022 and 2030. Operating as we do in a very large market, both in Israel and abroad, these future growth rates guarantee our own growth. And, no less important to the market’s growth potential, some 70 of retailers worldwide believe digital transformation to be essential.”
