Born out of the most important challenges the markets face, Capitolis is on a mission to address each one with the utmost experience, creativity, and innovation. The company was founded in 2017 and has since rapidly scaled, opening offices in Tel Aviv, London, and New York City and raising over $170 million in funding rounds. Today, the company’s 150 employees work together to build a legacy company that will have a lasting impact on the market, from financial, technological, and cultural perspectives.

Capitolis was established by Gil Mandelzis, a serial entrepreneur and financial technology genius with a successful record of creating disruptive products and companies and leading them through global scaling. Mandelzis was able to take his vision for the future of capital markets, and translate it into a leading SaaS platform that drives financial resource optimization for capital markets. Capitolis’ dedicated team brings decades of experience in launching successful startups, technology, and financial services to the table. In doing so, Capitolis’ network software is empowered to enable financial institutions to optimize their balance sheets, which creates a fairer, safer, and healthier marketplace.

Though Capitolis employees are passionate about the work they do, the growth they achieve, and the relationships they build through their work, a family environment and a work-life balance are revered. Mandelzis has never missed one of his kids’ games and cooks them dinner each night. And, at the Tel Aviv office, camaraderie-building is an everyday endeavor, with social lunch hours taking place each day, among many other company culture and positive work environment perks and endeavors that are par for the Capitolis course.

Meet Avi

Avi Klar joined Capitolis as an Engineering Team Lead five years ago. Previously, he held various Developer and Software Engineer roles, which readied him for the leap to a management position.

When asked what drew him to the company, Avi replied, “I was impressed by the potential Capitolis has to change the capital markets world, and I was excited by the opportunity to be the first employee/developer at Capitolis, and the growth opportunities this position allowed. Today, I trust our CEO and founders, and I admire the company’s vision to lead the capital markets world AND be the best company for employees and clients alike.

Each day, I arrive at the office between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. I prepare my Cappuccino, engage in some small talk with my colleagues, and go over my emails. At this time, people start arriving at the office, so I help a few of them with any obstacles they may stumble upon while engaging in their tasks, before heading off to our daily morning meeting. The rest of my day is filled with one-on-one meetings, conversations, emails, and helping whoever needs my assistance. As a manager, it is very important to me that I maintain constant dialogue and receive ongoing feedback from my team members. I make it my mission to ensure that they have the proper tools to support their growth.

Like every start-up company looking to succeed, the “work-life balance” is a regular subject we discuss. In general, we try to balance more intense periods with periods that are more laid back. Anyone who wants to in our Tel Aviv office can work according to a hybrid schedule; 3 days a week from the office and 2 days from home. This has been particularly beneficial during the pandemic, as I’ve been able to spend more time at home with my kids (My kids do disturb my work from time to time, though).

That said, our development teams are self-sustaining. They are structured to reduce dependency while enhancing transparency and partnership. Each team member can see what others are working on and knows each others’ areas of expertise, so that when one needs help they know who to approach.

Generally speaking, people love coming to our office. We work as a single unit with common goals and truly feel that. Together, we are transforming the capital markets world. Our team really does feel like we are one big family, and our Culture Team is constantly working to maintain that feeling with company-wide events, such as Happy Hour, lunches, packages sent to our homes, and events that include both workers and our family members.

Capitolis’ employees look inward and strive to constantly evolve

Throughout Covid, we recruited a tremendous number of engineers and supported their onboarding and establishment at Capitolis. We adapted to the “new normal,” while still maintaining the Happy Hour tradition, birthdays, and field trips (in Covid-friendly ways), so as to maintain and strengthen interpersonal relationships.

Bottom line - at Capitolis, we have great perks and perform satisfactory work.”
