Behind every brightly colored snack bag, sleek shampoo dispenser, elegant cosmetics jar and eye-catching beverage bottle on Israel's supermarket shelves is a fascinating industrial story. All this packaging has passed through the same key stage: the printing plates and cylinders that bring it to life. And the vast majority of this packaging is produced by Polyflex/Milpol, a company with more than 30 years' experience in the field and a reputation for high precision and reliability.

What started as a modest 100-square-meter factory has evolved into a 5,000-square-meter hub of industrial innovation. "We touch nearly every package that Israel's consumers encounter," says Naim Abboud, Polyflex/Milpol's founder and CEO. "From Bamba to Coca Cola, the biggest brands in the country know they can rely on us. Over the years, we've proven our ability to meet the industry's most stringent requirements."

Two Core Technologies Under a Single Roof
What sets Polyflex/Milpol apart is its simultaneous mastery of two core technologies. This is the result of a strategic merger between two complementary companies: N.A. Polyflex Ltd., a leader in the production of flexographic printing plates, and Milpol, specialist in engraved cylinders for gravure printing. Together, they offer a full-suite prepress solution tailored to the diverse needs of Israel's consumer goods industry — from flexible plastic and aluminum to polypropylene and nylon packaging materials.

In a field where micron-level precision is critical, even the slightest error can have major consequences. Abboud recalls a costly incident involving a misprinted barcode on cat food packaging. "Tens of thousands of units were sold at the wrong price," he recounts. "This is an example of how even the smallest mistake can cause massive losses. That's why we leave no room for error. Our quality control system accompanies every stage of the process."

Fast service is as crucial as accuracy. "With printing presses worth millions of dollars, every hour of downtime is a major expense," notes Abboud. "That's why Polyflex/Milpol offers 24/7 support. We're always there to answer the phone — even when it rings in the middle of the night!"

The Automation Revolutionizing the Industry
During the past decade, Polyflex/Milpol has invested heavily in automation and digitization. Today, almost 70 percent of operations are fully automated, including robotic systems that work through weekends without human guidance. The outcome? Plate production time has been slashed from three hours to just 30 minutes. Operations are round-the-clock, including holidays, and urgent orders can often be met on the same day.

"Automation has changed the game," says Abboud. "It hasn't only made us more efficient, it's given us an exceptionally high level of reliability. In the end, the customer gets a better product, faster."

Polyflex/Milpol innovation does not stop there. In its R&D labs, a new generation of smart plates is currently in development, designed to integrate seamlessly with digital printing systems, enabling real-time monitoring, automatic error detection and dramatic reduction in human error. The first generation of these smart plates is expected to launch in early 2026, and is poised to redefine industry standards.

"Our clients will benefit from fewer errors, faster turnaround, better logistics — and ultimately, lower costs," says Abboud.

A Family Business with a National Mission
Despite its technological sophistication, Polyflex/Milpol remains deeply rooted in its people. Its diverse team of some 50 staff — Jews, Christians and Muslims, some of whom have been with the company for decades — is deeply committed. "We hire good people, invest in their training and support them over time," says Abboud. "Our true strength is our team."

Polyflex/Milpol sees itself as a family business with a national mission. As an essential supplier to Israel's food and consumer goods industries, it has remained operational through countrywide crises, from the COVID-19 pandemic to the recent conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. "Our clients rely on us," says Abboud. "When they launch a new product, there's no room for delay, and we're here to make sure that never happens."

Looking Ahead: Shaping the Future of Packaging
As consumer demands for more attractive, more durable and more environmentally sustainable packaging continue to evolve, pressure on prepress providers keeps growing.

Polyflex/Milpol is ready, says Abboud. "Positioned at the forefront of innovation, we're already adapting to tomorrow's challenges with smarter solutions and greener processes."

From its humble beginnings to today's state-of-the-art industrial powerhouse, the company's journey is far from over. And judging by its trajectory, the chances are that the next package you pick up at the store will have passed through the factory built by Naim Abboud.
