Dr. Polish Cleaning: "We Have Yet to Encounter a Customer Who Was Not Satisfied"

You are about to move into a new or renovated house and are full of excitement, but before you can settle into the house of your dreams – you have to make sure it’s clean. To deal with the remains of construction materials, paint splashes, dust and debris that are all over the property, most people hire the services of a cleaning company that can handle the dirt using suitable materials and special machines. We spoke with Barak Sharabi, the owner of Dr. Polish, a cleaning company with 17 years of experience, and we heard what cleaning a new house entails, what is the difference between polish for cleaning and polish for shining, and what is Dr. Polish's unique system that gives you a price quote on the company’s website in just a few minutes.

“The company's customers are usually people who are about to move into a new house or one that has been renovated; owners of a property that has been neglected for many years or owners of an investment apartment who want to do a thorough cleaning before potential tenants come to view the property," says Sharabi. "The cleaning is professional and thorough and includes, among other things, blinds, windows, window tracks, kitchen cabinets, bathrooms and toilets, ceramics and tiles, balconies, glass railings, doors and jambs, panels and of course polishing the floor, which is our specialty. Regarding the polish, Sharabi explains that different effects can be achieved depending on what the customer wishes. The polishing machine can be used to clean and renew the tiles or to shine the floor. Most people, he says, are not aware of the differences between the two. "Polish for cleaning gives the tiles a thorough cleaning, while the polish for shining gives the tiles a wet and shimmering look, like in a hotel. For those who are debating whether to use a cleaning company or a cleaner before entering a new home, Sharabi explains the advantages of a cleaning company. "As far as normal situations are concerned, a cleaner is a good and convenient solution, but when it comes to extreme situations of dirt, it is preferable to hire a cleaning company," says Sharabi.

"First of all, the cleaning company sends a team of at least two workers who finish the job in a shorter period of time than it would take a housekeeper, usually within one working day. Also, since the cost is determined in advance, we have no interest in working slowly or taking time, unlike a cleaner who usually works by the hour. What's more, as a team we can dismantle the windows, clean and reinstall them and do physical things that a cleaner working alone would find difficult. In addition, we have machines that achieve better results quickly, and no less important – insurance coverage in case of damage that gives you peace of mind."

Making the house sparkle

Sharabi started working for a cleaning company after his release from the army, and slowly what began as a temporary job turned into a passion. "At first I was a little put off by the physical effort of daily cleaning work, but over time I realized that the work doesn't have to be so physically difficult," he says. "It all depends on the appropriate equipment, techniques and materials. I would come to construction sites and test different cleaning agents on the leftover building materials, until I understood which cleaning agent is suitable for which material. Even today, when a new product comes out on the market, we are the first to try it."

Little by little, Sharabi gained knowledge, techniques and expertise and even participated in the television program "Ba Lehadesh Lahem," in which he cleaned apartments that underwent a total design transformation and gave tips on cleaning. "It is important to me to share the knowledge I have gained over the years. There are people who are unable to order cleaning services or who encounter frustrating situations such as stains that do not come out, and I am happy to make my knowledge available so that even those who cannot afford to hire our services can enjoy a clean home," he says. He points out that on Dr. Polish's YouTube channel you can find instructional videos on issues that Sharabi is frequently asked about, such as how to clean window tracks, what is the correct way to clean windows, ovens, etc. In addition, Sharabi runs a WhatsApp group on cleaning issues where he gives tips and even answers questions.
