Lebanese PM Going to Turkey to Muster Support Following Collapse of Government

Saad Hariri will hold talks with Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday in Ankara.

Lebanon Prime Minister Saad Hariri was expected to arrive in Ankara later on Thursday, Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, as the Lebanese prime minister sought to muster support for his crisis hit government.

Hariri will hold talks with Turkey's Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, Davutoglu told a joint news conference with European Union's foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton.

Hariri's 14-month-old "unity government" collapsed on Wednesday after the resignation of Hezbollah ministers and their allies. Hariri is expected to begin formal negotiations to form a new government on Monday.

The resignations followed the failure of regional powers Saudi Arabia and Syria to forge a deal to reduce tension over the UN backed investigation into the 2005 assassination of Hariri's father, statesman Rafik al Hariri.
