KYIV – Every evening since Russia invaded Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has given a video address to the nation, in Ukrainian. On Wednesday evening, as the first month of war was drawing to an end, he spoke instead in English, addressing people around the world. He was trying to convince them that “Russia is trying to defeat the freedom of all people in Europe, of all people in the world,” and called on them to join in acts of protest and solidarity for Ukraine, wherever they live.
