BERLIN – The New Synagogue on Oranienburger Strasse doesn’t usually hold afternoon prayer services on Shabbat. But a week ago, Rabbi Gesa Ederberg, head of the city’s Masorti-Conservative congregation, made an exception to accommodate the new group of worshippers who don’t speak German. Back in Kyiv, where they come from, the Masorti congregation holds its weekly prayer service on Saturday afternoon.
