Israel is taking a much more restrained line than Europe when it comes to Ukraine. Even its public condemnations are bland compared to European and American rhetoric

Israel had an almost two-week warning that Russia was likely to invade Ukraine. Whereas ministers, pundits and sometimes intelligence officials publicly doubted that Russian President Vladimir Putin intended to carry out his threats, American officials were unequivocal. In talks with colleagues in Israel, the Prime Minister’s Office and the National Security Council, the Americans left no room for doubt: Putin is serious. The escalation will end in an invasion.
