KKK-clad Protesters Outside German Refugee Center Prompt Investigation
The incident, which ended when migrants emerged from the building, took place in a state where right-wing extremists already caused several similar occurrences.
DPA — A police investigation is underway after eight people dressed in Ku Klux Klan-style outfits marched past a refugee center in northern Germany, authorities said Monday.

The incident, which took place on Friday night and was only later reported, occurred in Loecknitz in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where right-wing extremists have previously been involved in several racist occurences.
The individuals, whose identity was concealed by the signature KKK outfits, marched in silence for 10 minutes outside the refugee center before disappearing when asylum seekers emerged from the building.
People dressed in similar outfits had previously been reported in the neighboring state of Brandenburg, where right-wing extremists are believed to have strong ties to similar groups in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Germany's government has come up against fierce criticism from right-wing groups for an open-door policy that allowed more than 1 million migrants — many of them refugees fleeing war in the Middle East — into the country in 2015.
