Canada’s First Black Jewish Party Leader Is Under Threat – From Her Own Party

Annamie Paul made history last October when she became the first Black person and Jewish woman to lead a federal party in Canada. Her achievement was celebrated by many in Canada’s Jewish community, but in recent months, Paul has faced strong criticism from within her own party, some of it focused on her stance regarding Israel. Sources in the Greens and in the Canadian Jewish community told Haaretz that the criticism against her reflects antisemitic tendencies within the party.
