U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted a video clip Monday from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" featuring Larry David putting on a "Make American Great Again" hat to diffuse a traffic altercation. It seems the president didn't realize that the clip was meant to poke fun at "MAGA" hats, with the famed Jewish actor using it as a "people repellent."

The president wrote "TOUGH GUYS FOR TRUMP!" sharing a clip of David driving an electric BMW on the season 10 premiere of the HBO series. After almost running over a biker, the angry driver yells "What are you trying to do, man?” to David.

David rolls down his window and says, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you." He proceeds to put a red "MAGA" hat on and smiles at the biker.

"Just be more careful next time, okay?" the biker responds before driving off.

Throughout the rest of the episode, David uses the hat as a "great people repellent" to get out of a lunch and drive diners away from sitting next to him at a sushi bar.

It was not long after the tweet that "Larry David" started trending on Twitter, with the video receiving over seven million views. "I don't think he gets the joke," one user wrote. While another user called him "a hero."

Chairman of the Democratic Coalition Jon Cooper wrote: "Trump missed the joke behind the clip, which is that Larry David used the hat in order to repel unwanted interactions with others."
