Ahead of the Thursday UN General Assembly vote denouncing U.S. President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, Trump threatened Wednesday to slash U.S. aid to nations that vote in the resolution's favor.

"They take hundreds of millions of dollars and even billions of dollars, and then they vote against us," Trump said. "Well, we're watching those votes. Let them vote against us. We'll save a lot. We don't care."

The United States is "asked to pay for the privilege of being disrespected" at the UN, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told member states ahead of a vote on Jerusalem, that passed in the General Assembly.
"We'll be honest with you - when we make generous contributions to the UN we also have a legitimate expectation that our goodwill is respected," Haley said.
