President Donald Trump on Tuesday called for changes to U.S. tax law affecting the National Football League, fueling a feud with the league and its players over protests that he says disrespect the nation.

"Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the same time disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country? Change tax law!" Trump wrote in a post on Twitter.

Trump later went on to attack suspended ESPN host Jemele Hill, writing, "it is no wonder ESPN ratings have "tanked," in fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the industry!"

ESPN said Hill was suspended for two weeks after violating the company's social media guidelines after she posted support for a boycott of the Dallas Cowboys when the team's owner said he would bench any player protesting during the national anthem.
