The image was later deleted because Stone 'did not notice' the swastika in the image

Former Trump campaign adviser, Roger Stone, posted an image on Instagram of him and other Trump officials including the president edited onto spacesuits with a swastika in the background. A text under the image read: "Space Force: in space no one can hear you lie"

He shared the now-deleted image on Monday, with the caption "I love this - proud to be in this crew - but the only lies being told are by liberal scumbags. #maga #republican #infowars."

Following a backlash on social media, Stone deleted the image and on Tuesday, he posted a second image with the word  "Sorry."

The caption read: "Last night I posted an image attacking me and other supporters of the President that was sent to me by a hater. I did so to mock them . I did not notice the image had a swastika in the corner . When It was brought to my attention I deleted it - so u libtards who are frothing at the mouth can stop sending insulting comments will only get u blocked #maga."

Space Force is a reference to the sixth military branch created by President Trump to ensure U.S. extra-terrestrial dominance. The Space Force has been the subject of ridicule, including by celebrities, including revered actor, Morgan Freedman.

Stone has come under public scrutiny after Robert Mueller, the special counsel who is conducting a probe for Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election, indicted 12 Russian intelligence officers in June for their involvement in the hack of a Democratic National Committee server.

Mueller also made mention of an unnamed individual who was in contact with the Russian officials and in regular contact with "senior members of the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump." This individual is widely believed to be Stone.

In a CNN interview with Chris Cuomo, Stone stated that he also believed the individual to be him. Though he has been willing to work with the Mueller investigation, Stone has stated that he will not testify against him because he does not have anything bad to say about him.
