U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani took over a Michigan House Oversight Committee meeting last Thursday in what became quickly satirized political theater.
Giuliani called and questioned witnesses in an effort to convince the GOP-controlled Legislature to replace Michigan’s electors to vote for Trump.
Giuliani’s first witness was Jessy Jacob, a furloughed Detroit worker who was temporarily assigned to the city clerk’s office. However, it was a witness named Melissa Carone who ended up making headlines and became enshrined in popular culture over the weekend by “Saturday Night Live.”
Kate McKinnon’s Rudy Giuliani was joined by Cecily Strong’s impersonation of Melissa Carone in a skit that lampooned the highly criticized hearings.
“I swear to tell my whole story and nothing but my story, so help me Gob,” Strong’s Carone began slurring her words.
"I personally saw hundreds if not thousands of dead people vote," she said. "I remember because I was walking out and they were walking out and they gave their votes to Democrats."
"Maybe you want to pull it back a little, I'm afraid you're making us look foolish," McKinnon's Giuliani interrupted.
