Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger compared the storming of the U.S. Capitol to Kristallnacht and condemned “failed leader” Donald Trump as “the worst president ever.”

“I grew up in Austria. I’m very aware of Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass,” Schwarzenegger said in a message posted online Sunday.

“It was a night of rampage against the Jews carried out in 1938 by the Nazi equivalent of the Proud Boys. Wednesday was the Day of Broken Glass right here in the United States.”

Schwarzenegger spoke of the physical and emotional pain he witnessed from “broken men,” including his own father, “over their participation in the most evil regime in history” - the Nazis.

He continued, with a dire warning, “It all started with lies, lies, lies and intolerance. Being from Europe I’ve seen firsthand how bad things can spin out of control.”

Schwarzenegger added that while, he doesn’t think the U.S. is headed as far as Nazi Germany, he argued Trump “sought a coup by misleading people with lies and I know where such lies lead.”
