The co-hosts of Washington's foremost morning show, MSNBC's "Morning Joe," are engaged. Joe Scarborough, 54, a former Republican congressman, got down on one knee during a trip to the south of France, to celebrate Mika Brzezinski's 50th birthday.

The romantic scene, relates the New York Post's page 6, took place at the scenic Bar Bellini at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, which has a moonlit outdoor terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Brezezinski, a longtime political commentator and author, is the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, the National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter. Brezezinski the father had immigrated to Canada after the Nazi takeover of his native Poland in 1939.

Both Scarborough and Brzezinski were criticized during the 2016 U.S. presidential election for their interviews of Donald Trump, which critics viewed as being too soft on the then presidential hopeful. In an interview with Vanity Fair the couple explains how Donald Trump had once offered to marry them in the White House.

The couple claimed that Jared Kushner had offered to officiate the ceremony, to which Trump quickly responded, "Why would you marry them? They could have the President of the United States marry them."

Brzezinski told Vanity Fair she considered the offer, but concluded, "If it weren't Trump, it might be something to think about. The mental picture is just fascinating, but the reality is just . . . no. No, no, no, no, no."
