Tuesday’s special edition of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" brought together an impressive troupe of Daily Show alums. Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Ed Helms and Rob Corddry all joined Colbert on stage for the mini reunion, co-hosted by their former boss Jon Stewart.

During his guest segment on the show, Jon Stewart was quick to defend Stephen Colbert’s controversial Donald Trump monologue from last week, which caused a firestorm over Twitter with calls for a boycott and Colbert’s resignation.
After a friendly bit of ribbing, Stewart took the issue to task. "The things that you say, even if they’re crass, even if they in some ways are not respectful enough to the office of the presidency, can insult," Stewart said. "But HE can injure. For the life of me, I do not understand why in this country we try and hold comedians to a standard we do not hold our leaders to."
"The process of making the show somehow became entwined with my process of making sense of things that I didn’t understand," he said, "so I miss that."
