The Israeli army announced a five-day wide-scale drill will begin on Sunday in northern Israel.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that the exercise will take place in the Jordan Rift Valley, the Upper Galilee, Nahariyya, the Sea of Galilee area and the Golan Heights. During the drill, heavy traffic of vehicles, fighter jets and attack helicopters and aircrafts is expected throughout the country.

The army added siren alerts will sound in several Israel Defense Forces bases across the country and smoke will billow from the compounds.

The drill was planned as part of the army's 2019 training program to maintain the forces' preparedness.
