According to a report from the Washington Blade, Gays for Trump founder Peter Boykin said that the event would help make the country a better place to live for “everyone, gay, straight, black, white – everyone.”
Who "everyone" might be is not clear, as only a handful of people showed up to see Boykin's address and attend the event. Photos and a video from the event surfaced on Twitter, drawing the expected criticism and laughs.
The rally replaced an earlier plan to host a "Deploraball Pre-4th of July Picnic" which was cancelled when Boykin was unable to reserve enough space on the Mall for a picnic.
