Political satirist Bill Maher and host of HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” interviewed  former CIA Director John Brennan Friday night, with both agreeing that U.S. President Donald Trump is a “traitor.”

Maher asked Brennan if he still agreed with his assessment after the July 16 Trump-Putin press conference in Helsinki, saying, “You used terms like that, after Helsinki, you said it was 'nothing short of treasonous,' which, to me, sounds like treasonous."

"He takes their side and not ours. That's a traitor," Maher added.

Brennan, who Trump stripped of his CIA security clearance in early August, agreed with Maher saying that the word had long crossed his mind.

“I think we are in a crisis that is the third great crisis in American history,” Maher said on "Real Time," saying that he felt it was more of a crisis than the Depression but behind the Revolutionary War and Civil War. “Would you rank the crisis we’re in now that way?”

“I would,” Brennan said.

Brennan ended the segment with a stark warning about the near future: “And I think it’s going to get worse before it gets better, because don’t forget: Donald Trump has the authority of the president of the United States in his hands, in terms of what he can do domestically here and as well as what he can do internationally to try to distract attention, whether or not he’s going to try to pursue some type of foreign adventure, military or otherwise.”

Maher also poked fun at both the Republican Party and Trump's mounting legal troubles in his opening monologue.

“You’ve heard of Black Friday? This week we had Orange Tuesday. They are rolling up the members of the Trump crime family,” joked Maher as he broke down the week’s news relating to former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and campaign manager Paul Manafort - who are both now convicted of federal crimes.

Maher also ripped into Chris Collins (R-N.Y.), who was the first sitting Congressman to endorse Trump, and Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), a Republican legacy, who were both indicted in recent weeks.

“So many Republicans going to jail, who’s going to be left to lock up Hillary?” Maher asked. “If they lock up any more white Republicans the white NFL players are going to start taking a knee.”
