HBO’s late-night political satirist, Bill Maher, ripped into U.S. President Donald Trump Friday night for his connection to Fox News. Maher joked that Russian state television broadcasts Russian President Vladimir Putin’s views while in the U.S. it's the opposite situation.
“It’s scary how much Trump takes his cues from Fox News,” Maher joked.
“Putin has state TV, but Putin’s not an idiot,” Maher said. “So state TV does what Putin wants. I think it’s the other way in this country.”

“America’s being run by Steve Doocy,” he added, referring to the co-host of “Fox and Friends”- Trump’s favorite TV show.
Maher has slammed Trump before for being heavily influenced by television. On last week’s show he joked, “the new top deputy at State is Heather Nauert, who used to be on Fox & Friends, and Gary Cohn, who got shit-canned last week as the chief economic adviser is being replaced by Larry Kudlow, who Trump watches on CNBC.”
Maher also went after Trump’s pick of former-UN Ambassador John Bolton as national security advisor - who is also a long-time Fox News contributor. “John Bolton came here, we talked to him. He’s another one of those hawkswho never served in Vietnam," Maher said. "The only person, by the way, in military history who was classified 4F because of his mustache. That’s very rare. But, you know, he was all gung-ho, John Bolton was, for the war in Iraq, wants now to mix it up big time with Iran and North Korea. He’s what they call an a**hole’s a**hole.”
He concluded by joking that Bolton already “has experience with incompetence” having served in the administration of George W. Bush.
