Sen. Al Franken (D, Minnesota) was on "Real Time with Bill Maher" over the weekend and weighed in on Donald Trump's tempermant and mental state, a major topic of concern in the U.S. media these days.

Maher began the interview applauding the Jewish lawmaker and former "Saturday Night Live" star for "doing something that the rest of us are not willing to, have lunch with Republicans." Maher continued by asking Franken to give him the insider's perspective on what Repubicans in Washington are saying about Trump behind closed doors.

“Well, there’s a range," responded Franken. "Some say he’s not right mentally. Then, some are harsher.”

“Wait, that was cheap. There are some that don’t talk to me, but I haven’t heard a lot of good things, and I’ve heard some great concern about the president’s temperament,” continued Franken.

Maher went on the ask Franken about Time magazine, who "recently came out in favor of impeaching Trump," asking when impeachment proceedings might be brought against Trump.

“Let me remind you again that Republicans are in the majority. So I think it'll be — it's months and months away,” answered Franken, in a tone that was difficult to say whether he was joking or not.
