U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin requested a government jet to fly him and his new wife actress Louise Linton (who has had her own scandal of late) on their honeymoon to Scotland, France and Italy earlier this summer. The request has sparked an “inquiry” by the Treasury Department's Office of Inspector General, ABC News reported. The cost to operate the jet Mnuchin requested is reportedly $25,000 per hour.

Mnuchin is believed to have a net worth upward of $300 million from his career as a partner at Goldman Sachs and having founded a hedge fund. Mnuchin failed to officially disclose almost nine-figures of assets ahead of being confirmed to the cabinet by the U.S. Senate.

Mnuchin has also had a lucrative career as a Hollywood film producer with credits like "Mad Max," "Batman vs Superman" and this year's big bomb "King Arthur" to his name. To his critics his name is now synonymous with greed and Wall Street excess - he named his hedge fund after his house in the Hamptons while running a mortgage lender that foreclosed on more than 36,000 homeowners.

Mnuchin is currently fighting with House Republicans over next year's budget and tax reform. He attempted to build bridges on Wednesday saying a tax reform plan being worked on by the Trump administration would not add to budget deficit projections under the administration's forecast for economic growth.

"It will be revenue neutral under our growth assumptions," Mnuchin said in an interview on Fox News. "We can pay for these tax cuts with economic growth."
