'You have people in this country for 20 years, they’ve done a great job, they’ve done wonderfully, they’ve gone to school ... they’re productive – now we’re supposed to send them out of the country?'

U.S. President Donald Trump made good on a campaign promise to kill DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, on Tuesday morning when his Attorney General Jeff Sessions officially rescinded the Obama era executive order.

Earlier on Monday, amid a storm of calls from his fellow Republicans, like Senator Orrin Hatch and Congressman Paul Ryan, who pleaded with the president not to kill the so-called "Dreamers" program, CNN investigative reporter Andrew Kaczynski tweeted out two videos of Trump defending the so-called "Dreamers" in 2011.

“This isn’t conservative,” Trump tells Fox & Friends while commenting on the then ongoing Republican presidential primaries. “This is compassion,” he concluded.

Trump spoke specifically about immigration hardliner and then-candidate Michele Bachmann, saying, “You ask Michele to actually, physically go across the street and tell the family of 25 years to get out of this country, she wouldn’t do it because she’s a good person,” he insisted.

"You have people in this country for 20 years, they’ve done a great job, they’ve done wonderfully, they’ve gone to school, they’ve gotten good marks, they’re productive – now we’re supposed to send them out of the country?” he said. “I don’t believe in that.”
