WASHINGTON - After a turbulent first ten days in office, Anthony Scaramucci was removed from his position as Donald Trump's White House's communications director on Monday. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the news on Monday at a press briefing.

"The president felt that Anthony’s comments were inappropriate for a person in that position," she said in reference to Scaramucci's tirade against senior White House officials. "He didn't want to burden General Kelly with that line of succession."

Scaramucci was named by Trump as communications director only 10 days ago. In a tweet following Scaramucci's dismissal, Trump said it was a "great day at the White House."

The change comes days after Scaramucci delivered a profanity-laced tirade against other top Trump aides - and hours after Trump swore in John Kelly, a new chief of staff, to bring discipline to his West Wing.

"Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team," the White House said in a statement.

According to a New York Times report, his removal was made at Kelly's request. Sanders was asked in Scaramucci was fired or resided, and responded that he and Kelly "reached a mutual understanding" without explaining how exactly that came to be.

Kelly, the former Secretary of Homeland Security and a retired Four Star Marine Corps General replaced Reince Priebus on Friday to become the new White House chief of staff.

Regarding the outgoing Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who quit the White House because of Scaramucci's hire, Sanders said that she has no knowledge regarding a change in his situation.

Sanders was asked if the administration's insistence that "everybody in the White House" will report to chief of staff also includes Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner. She responded that that "everyone" will report to Kelly, without going into specific names.

Sanders was asked about Trump's recent complaints about Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and about reports that the president was planning to remove Sessions from his cabinet position. She said that there were no such plans and that Trump has "100% confidence in all his cabinet members."

The major shake-up in the White House comes after a week of dramatic infighting between Priebus, a former senior political operator within the Republican Party, and Scaramucci. On Thursday, Scaramucci accused Priebus of leaking stories against him to the press and cursed him during an on-the-record conversation with a journalist.
