Stephen Colbert upped the ante Monday night in his feud with U.S. President Donald Trump when he flat out called on him to resign.
“I have something to say here. Donald Trump, if you’re watching, first of all: You’re a bad president. Please resign,” said Colbert to a round of thundering applause from the studio audience. Colbert made the remarks in a monologue about the breaking news that Trump had leaked classified intelligence to the Russians during a controversial Oval Office visit.
“Second, please, please, please don’t take Sean Spicer from us! Where am I going to get my daily dose of veiled anger and condescension?”
