Colbert Destroys Trump for Saying His 'Ratings Are Bigger Than 9/11'
'My first hundred days have been huge. Titanic, OK? We’re blowin’ up, OK? Bigger than anything since Nagasaki. That’s how big'
As Donald Trump's first 100 days in office are the topic on everyone's mind in U.S. politics, late night comics are adding their commentary on how Trump has been doing. Stephen Colbert's opening monologue on the latest episode of "Late Night" skewered Trump ruthlessly for the 100 days of fodder he has provided comedians and the train wreck interview Trump gave the Associated Press about his first 100 days.
"The first 100 days are traditionally a time to reflect on accomplishments for a president, and Trump hasn’t got a lot of those,” Colbert joked. “He still hasn’t filled his Cabinet, he didn’t repeal Obamacare, there are still Muslims. But—and it’s a big but—he did sign a law making it easier for mentally ill people to buy guns and for hibernating bears to be hunted. So he took care of his base: insane people who want to murder Yogi.”
"I have, seem to get very high ratings. I definitely. You know Chris Wallace had 9.2 million people, it’s the highest in the history of the show. [CBS Face the Nation host] Dickerson had 5.2 million people,” said Trump. “It’s the highest for ‘Deface the Nation’ since the World Trade Center. Since the World Trade Center came down. It’s a tremendous advantage.”

Colbert went on to specifically skewer Trump for having told the AP that his ratings as president were higher than 9/11. “Mr. President, I know you’re proud of your ratings, but how do I say this: It’s not normally a good thing to compare yourself to 9/11. You know that, right?” asked Colbert.
Then, the late-night host began imitating Trump: “My first hundred days have been huge. Titanic, OK? We’re blowin’ up, OK? Bigger than anything since Nagasaki. That’s how big.”
