Yad Vashem, the official Israeli Holocaust memorial center, has presented White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer with a challenge: Come visit our website and get yourself an education.

The invitation comes a day after Spicer told reporters that Adolf Hitler, unlike Syria’s president, “didn’t even sink to using chemical weapons,” ignoring the fact that millions of Jews were gassed to death under the Nazi leader’s regime. Spicer later apologized for the remarks, which had already sparked widespread condemnation as well as calls for his dismissal.

“His statements imply a profound lack of knowledge of events of the Second World War, including the Holocaust,” said Dr. Robert Rozett, director of the Yad Vashem’s libraries. “Moreover, they are liable to strengthen the hands of those whose goal is to distort history.”

Rozett said he was deeply concerned by Spicer’s “profound lack of knowledge” about World War II and the Holocaust.

The Anne Frank Center has demanded Trump to fire Spicer for "engaging in Holocaust denial."

"Spicer's statement is the most evil slur upon a group of people we have ever heard from a White House press secretary," the Center's Executive Director Steven Goldstein said, adding that Spicer lacks the integrity to serve in his role.

Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi also called for Trump to fire Spicer. “While Jewish families across America celebrate Passover, the chief spokesman of this White House is downplaying the horror of the Holocaust. Sean Spicer must be fired, and the President must immediately disavow his spokesman’s statement," Pelosi said in a statement.

Israeli Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz called Spicer's comment "serious and outrageous... We have to demand that he apologize, or resign," Katz tweeted.
