Politico: What Bothers Trump Most About SNL Skit Was Spicer Being Spoofed by a Woman

The SNL skit by Melissa McCarthy may not bode well for Spicer's longevity in the job, Politico reports, and quotes an unidentified Trump donor as saying: 'Trump doesn't like his people to look weak.'

What bothered President Donald Trump the most about the Saturday Night Live lampoon of his spokesman Sean Spicer by actress Melissa McCarthy, was the fact that she's a woman, Politico reports.

The embarrassment may even cost Spicer his job, one of Politico's sources says.

"More than being lampooned as a press secretary who makes up facts, it was Spicer’s portrayal by a woman that was most problematic in the president’s eyes, according to sources close to him," the web site says.

The article adds that the skit may not bode well for Spicer's longevity in the job, and quotes an unidentified Trump donor as saying: "Trump doesn't like his people to look weak."

The most definite sign of Trump being bothered by the skit that aired on Saturday night was his uncharacteristic silence about it. Not even a single Tweet hit the web.

Politico said sources thought that was a sign that the caricature had struck a nerve.

Spicer, for his part, chose to shrug off the parody with a mild critique about how McCarthy "needs to slow down on the gum chewing."
