U.S. President-elect Donald Trump harshly lashed out at his own country's intelligence agencies on Wednesday, after documents that allegedly contain sensitive information about him collected by the Russians were published in the press.

"Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to 'leak' into the public. One last shot at me. Are we living in Nazi Germany?" Trump said in one of a number of tweets he wrote on the issue.

"Russia has never tried to use leverage over me. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA - NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING!" he tweeted in another. The tweet was followed by one saying, "I win an election easily, a great 'movement' is verified, and crooked opponents try to belittle our victory with FAKE NEWS. A sorry state!"

Senior U.S. intelligence officials met with President Barack Obama and Trump to present them with classified documents alleging that Moscow holds compromising personal and financial information on the president-elect, CNN and Buzzfeed reported on Tuesday.

Trump took to Twitter to reject the report, calling it "fake news" and part of a "political witch hunt" against him. Echoing Trump's response, the Kremlin also denied the claims.

The CNN report was based on "multiple U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the briefings" on Russia's interference in the U.S. elections that were given to Obama and Trump last week by the Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, FBI chief James Comey, CIA director John Brennan, and NSA director Admiral Mike Rogers.
