John Bolton Suggests Alleged Russian Hacking May Be a 'False Flag' Operation

Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and a leading contender for the Trump administration, John Bolton, suggested on Fox News over the weekend that the alleged Russian interference in the U.S. election may be a "false falg operation."

“It is not at all clear to me, just viewing this from the outside, that this hacking into the DNC and the RNC was not a false flag operation,” Bolton told Fox News’ Eric Shawn on Sunday.

Shawn immediately pushed Bolton to explain what he meant by “false flag," asking the former ambassador if he was suggesting the U.S. government was behind the hack, to which Bolton insisted, “We just don’t know.”

“But I believe that intelligence has been politicized in the Obama administration to a very significant degree,” continued Bolton. "If you think the Russians did this, then why did they leave their fingerprints?”

“We would want to know who else might want to influence the election and why they would leave fingerprints that point to the Russians. That’s why I say until we know more about how the intelligence community came to this conclusion we don’t know whether it is Russian inspired or a false flag."
