Elliott Abrams, the Trump administration’s special representative for Iran and Venezuela, arrived in Israel like an ambassador of yesteryear. When he flew out of Washington, U.S. TV networks were still deliberating whether to declare Joe Biden the winner of the election and America’s next president. By the time he landed on Sunday, Biden was president-elect, even if Abrams’ boss was still sulking and refusing to admit it. Abrams thus represents a lame-duck administration, which for now is refusing to even coordinate an orderly transition of power on January 20.
