President-elect Joe Biden’s choice of Antony J. Blinken as his secretary of state is being welcomed and praised by Israeli foreign policy veterans on both sides of the political map.

News of Biden’s decision was confirmed on Monday. Blinken, himself a veteran foreign policy hand, had been one of two names most frequently mentioned as being on Biden’s short list for the role of his top diplomat. He was seen as potentially heading either the State Department or the National Security Council.
