WASHINGTON – Following pro-Israel Shontel Brown’s surprise victory over progressive Nina Turner in Ohio’s 11th congressional district primary last week, Democrats are trying to determine what the results portend for the 2022 midterms and what role Israel plays in the future of the party.

Establishment Democrats are heralding the come-from-behind victory as a validation of the mainstream and an indication that voters hew to the Biden agenda. For progressives, it is further evidence of an asymmetrical power dynamic where they face a near-impossible task of matching the deep pockets of megadonors and super PACs.
