The third week of May 2020 began with cautious optimism. The tough restrictions that had been imposed on the Israeli public in light of the coronavirus outbreak were starting to be rolled back; restaurateurs were on the verge of reopening; and hotels and bed and breakfasts were preparing for a flood of domestic tourism because Israelis couldn’t fly abroad. There were only a few dozen new daily cases of COVID-19.
