The Chicago Sun-Times quoted her mother as saying that the family believes Goldberg, 40, who lived in Santa Monica, California, and was visiting her family for the High Holy Days, died of a heart ailment.

In "7th Heaven" she played a Jewish medical student, daughter of a rabbi, who falls in love with the son of a Christian cleric.

She held a B.Sc. degree in microbiology from Amherst College in Massachusetts, according to Imdb.com. The Sun-Times reported that she planned to become a doctor, until she got the role in "My Best Friend's Wedding."
