Rocket Fired From Gaza Explodes in Open Area in Southern Israel

No damage or injuries were reported.


A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip early on Saturday exploded in an open field in Israel not far from the border. No damage or injuries were reported.

Earlier, on Friday evening, Palestinian sources reported that another rocket was fired but failed to reach Israel, exploding instead within the Gaza Strip.

In discussions held Friday evening, IDF officers voiced concern that the rockets would be fired at Israel, after IDF forces fired at a group of Palestinian protesters who approached the border Gazan border with Israel, killing six and the wounding at least 60.

On Sunday evening, two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip. One exploded in an open area in the same area while the other exploded within the Strip. In this case too no damage was reported. Israel responded by bombing Hamas military facilities in the Gaza Strip's north.
