The Transportation Ministry and Israel Railways issued a tender yesterday for construction of the Rishon Letzion West train station.
The cost of the new train station, which is to be located on Moshe Dayan Boulevard, is expected to be NIS 40 million, and is part of a NIS 2 billion network expansion in the city.
Rishon Letzion West station will include four railway tracks, passenger halls, platforms and an 800-space parking lot to be used as part of the city's Park & Ride facilities.
Trains from Tel Aviv will depart from Hagana Station (near the city's central bus station), and upon entering Rishon Letzion, will split with one part going to Ashdod and the other continuing into Rishon Letzion. The Tel Aviv-Rishon Letzion West route is expected to take 13 minutes.
