Arkia to Start Aqaba Flights on Aug. 16

Arkia has been forced to postpone the start of its new direct flights to Aqaba in Jordan due to a lack of security personnel. The airline had originally planned to start service on the new route on August 2, but has now scheduled its first flight for August 16, one day after El Al starts its new service to Eilat from Ben-Gurion International Airport

The state is supposed to supply the security personnel for Israeli airlines for the opening of new routes, but was unable to meet the schedule. Arkia plans three weekly flights to the southern Jordanian resort city neighboring Eilat on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Arkia will also offer six-day vacation packages for Aqaba. Until now, Arkia flew passengers to Eilat and bused them to Aqaba
