Palestinian Dies of Swine Flu in Israeli Hospital

Victim is Bethlehem man, 43; three other residents of city recovered from disease this year, along with five others across West Bank.

A 43-year-old Bethlehem man died of swine flu in an Israeli hospital on Tuesday, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reports, quoting Palestinian medical officials.

"The patient was getting medical treatment at one of the Israeli hospitals and his condition deteriorated due to the infection. He suffered from lack of immunity," said Mohammed Rezeq, a senior official in the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Health.

Three other Bethlehem residents took ill from swine flu this year, but all recovered, as did five other West Bank residents reported this year to have contracted the disease, Rezeq noted.
