In response to “Former Ambassador Dan Shapiro leaves Biden’s Iran team” (Ben Samuels, March 30)

Whether or not the world powers reach an agreement with Iran, Iran will charge ahead as fast as possible to develop its nuclear bomb. Iran is not in competition with the power. It’s in competition with Turkey and Saudi Arabia for leading the Muslim world in its quest to replace the decadent West with a caliphate. Any deal will be “taqiya,” dissimulation to gain advantage over an adversary.

Dan Shapiro knows the truth and the weakness of U.S. President Joe Biden’s policy. If Israel is hurt, the West’s source of intelligence in the region will suffer.

The wisest strategy would be for a coalition, led by the U.S., to put enough pressure on Iran to force it to back off its trajectory or face a concerted military option, but that’s not going to happen.

    Islamic terror groups have a favorite taunt, “First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people.” Ignore this at your peril.
